Sunday Scribblings - Idea

Idea

An idea materializes in my mind and I’m intrigued with it and enamored by it. I turn it over, examining and admiring it. But once I commit to the idea and begin to work with it, I find its flaws. Maybe it’s not as complex as I first thought, or maybe it’s too complex. Maybe it’s too dark, ugly, sickly sweet, plastic, one dimensional. I become frustrated and want to destroy the idea rather than continue to work with it. It is a bad idea anyway.

Or is it? I’m beginning to believe that there aren’t any bad ideas when it comes to writing. Ideas only become truly good when they are worked with by writers who are committed to refining them, sculpting and carving until their beauty shines through.

We are too quick to denigrate our ideas, aren't we? Ideas need time, like writing, to form themselves into something worthy and beautiful... thanks for sharing this!

I am full of ideas Tiffany but have lacked confidence in the past to carry them through. I find that is changing now. Thank you for your visit to my blog today. It is always nice to meet someone new. I think the idea of considering the good things of the day must be very infectious one indeed.

I like the concept of taking a new idea, turning it over, examining and admiring it. And I agree, ideas become truly good when you committ to carrying through with them.

Great Post!

too dark??? what's that then :)
black as coal springs to mind, and yet, when placed just right coal can shine with beauty, and when burnt, offers a multitude of uses :)

nice post, enjoyed it :)

I entirely agree - there are no bad ideas when it comes to writing. Even waht seems totally unpromising can lead somewhere really interesting. I have a box full of ideas I've had and never yet got round to working on, some of them aren't very good but I never know what they might become....

I think we should all take time to admire our ideas.

Everyone, I think, has a unique process, but with some aspects in common. Some ideas show up and move right through to a product. Others peek at us around a corner, creep out slowly, need some time, some whittling, some polishing.

This so true....honing those ideas, molding them with unique flavor, brings forth a different creative fruition each time!
