Butterfly - an Award and Haiku prompt
My bloggy friend, Jenners has bestowed on me an award! I love how Jenners changes the rules on blog awards. It makes it fun and unique each time it's given. This time, she has requested that I write a butterfly poem. So here is my poem:
orange wings in sharp contrast
to azure skies of late September
fragile fluttering against Autumn breezes
rushing as cold weather pursues
how do they know the path to follow
when they've never been before?
I know - that's not much of a poem, but it still counts!
And because I love haiku, I'm turning this into the haiku prompt for this week. If you want to play along and write your own, just leave your link in the comments.
Here's my butterfly haiku:
orange wings marked black
fragile strength defies logic
flight to Mexico
Oh yes, I'm bestowing this lovely Butterfly Award to Cate at Show My Face. She is the host of Six Word Saturday and has a great blog!

I also tried a found poem, based on what Jenners told us on her blog. I really need practice with the found poems!
I think your poem is awesome!
Oh I loved both of the poems! I'm glad you took my challenge! You earned the award!! Wonderful!
Hi Again!
I got your comment about you trying found poetry and I wanted to share what I shared with Bookkitten about what I had done because when I read her found poem, she did it different than I had done as she used the dictionary to get a poetry topic and then wrote a poem based on it.
What I did was look up a bunch of random phrases in the dictionary and then arranged them into poems and came up with a title. It just so happened that they all kind of fit together in triplets. In other words, take one phrase from one definition, pick a few more random defintions/phrases from the dictionary, and then see what you can find or create. Doing it this way, you don't have to write anything...you just try to "find" some kind of poetry in the random phrases. I told you I was weird. And then this truly ends up being found poetry. (I loved that there is a real definition for this ... I thought I had made it up!)
I felt terrible that Bookkitten ended up trying to write a poem all about parquet flooring!!!! Just wanted to clarify!
I like both poems! Very good.
And here I am back again!!! I'm accounting for like 35% of the comments on this post! (My math is probably wrong but you know what I mean.) I was going to try and send you an e-mail but I couldn't find an address for you so here are your interview questions!!
1. What is your favorite time of the day and why?
2. Can you tell me about a book that transported you to another time and place?
3. Pretend you had a day all to yourself to do anything you wanted to do (money is no object). What would you do?
4. What do you think are the five ugliest words in the English language? (You can choose purely by the sound of the word or by meaning.) (I gave Bookkitten the flip side to this question -- most beautiful words -- and if you want to do that one instead, feel free).
5. How do you feel about how Disney has handled Winnie-the-Pooh? (I'm assuming you have some opinions on this based on your blog and profile photo!)
Hope you enjoy answering them. Take your time and post them whenever you are ready. No pressure. Just let me know when you post them so I don't miss them for some reason.
